BANGKOK: Thailand’s premier post-secondary agriculture institution, Kasetsart University celebrates its 76th anniversary on 2 February, 2019. To mark the occasion, the university’s main campus in Bang Khen, Bangkok, this week is hosting Thailand’s annual National Agriculture Fair, more popularly known as the “Kaset Fair”.
The theme for this year is “Kasetsart Leading Thailand in Advancing Innovation and Being Green” (เกษตรศาสตร์นำไทย นวัตกรรม ก้าวไกล ใส่ใจสิ่งแวดล้อม)
The popular pedestrian street market fair and exhibition, which commenced January 25 and will conclude on 2 February, is set up across KU’s Bang Khen campus. Visitors are welcome between 10am to 10pm daily. Admission is free and parking across the campus is limited as hoards of students, teachers and visitors crowd the campus streets to sample the street food, and shop for everything from tools and clothes to fresh fruits and beauty products. The campus is divided into a number of zones dedicated to the environment, farming and agriculture exhibitions an stalls; pet supplies, DIY, food and entertainment. Aside from this there are a number of exhibitions by students, faculty and royal projects.
On Friday, 1 February, the university will host the Presidents Forum, an annual international conference that invites academicians, diplomats and experts in the field of agriculture and technology deliberate on a chosen topic. The theme of this year’s Presidents Forum is “Universities as Hubs for AI [Artificial Intelligence] Research & Development”.
