BANGKOK: The APSA Secretariat on February 15 warmly welcomed a group of 21 people from Myanmar’s Rice Seed Sector Development (RSSD) project.
Led by Mr Adreas Graf (Head of Project) and Dr Arnab Gupta (Seed Sector Advisor) the RSSD group was on a visit to Thailand as part of a project supported by Deutsche Welthungerhilfe e.V.,
The RSSD team is engaged in boosting rice seed production as part of the Rice Seed Sector project, which focuses on business development, quality control and sector co-ordination in the Ayeyarwady Delta of Myanmar.
Dr Kanokwan Chodchoey, APSA Executive Director introduced the group to the the APSA Secretariat and gave a brief introduction to the association.
Also representing APSA at the meeting were Ms Suchada Yansarasin (Public Relations Manager), Mr Komsak Kamjing (Membership Coordination Manager) and Ms Kunaporn Phuntunil (Technical Coordination Manager)
who introduced APSA’s history, objectives and activities.
A fruitful discussion ensued, spanning rice seed industry trends in Thailand and Myanmar, as well as hybrid rice trends in Southeast Asia.
